Manchester United are reportedly ready to sell Anthony Martial in a bid to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.
Rumours were rife in January that the Real Madrid star could leave the Bernabeu as he struggled to find form in La Liga.
Real sit third in the table and are set to lose their crown to Barcelona, while Los Blancos also crashed out of the Copa del Rey in the quarter-finals.
Ronaldo, 33, is also coming to the latter end of his career and he has previously admitted that he would like to return to Manchester United at some point in the future.
But the Red Devils already have an influx of attacking talent and Jose Mourinho will have to offload Martial to make room for Ronaldo.
That is according to Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, who say that United believe they can sign their former attacker for €200million (£178m).
The deal would make Ronaldo the second most expensive player, behind Neymar who swapped Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Meanwhile, Juventus were linked with a move for Martial, who finds himself behind Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order.
El Gol Digital add that Ronaldo wishes to retire at the club where his career really kicked into gear.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are expected to have a massive shake-up of their squad to put the bad season to bed.
One of the Frenchman’s main targets in United goalkeeper David de Gea, and he could be used as a bargaining chip for Ronaldo.
