Chelsea are considering taking legal action against Diego Costa who has gone AWOL and is refusing to return to the club.

Costa is yet to return to Chelsea and is currently piling up fines for his decision to remain in Brazil.

The 28 year old was desperate to secure a move back to Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window and he thought staying back at home would force Chelsea into give in into his demands but the Blues held firm and refused to sell the striker at a cut-price fee.

Chelsea placed a £50m price tag on the striker but Atletico were unable to cough up that figure, subsequently failing to reach an agreement over the transfer of the striker.

With the transfer window now over, Costa is stuck at Chelsea but is yet to report at the club’s Cobham training ground

According to The Express via Sports Mole, Chelsea would claim breach of contract, from which Costa earns £185,000 a week, which still has two years to left.

Costa has been ordered to return to the club to train and put himself in place for contention in Antonio Conte’s squad and it remains to be seen if he will do that. The club have offered him the condition to get back into the first team by including him in its 25 man Premier League squad.

Should he continue to stay in Brazil, Chelsea might decide to take a tougher stand on the striker by dragging him to court. It will be interesting to see how this saga ends. I hope it doesn’t have a negative effect on the squad.
