Arsene Wenger’s future at the club is coming under scrutiny once again with Arsenal currently sixth in the Premier League table, eight points off fourth-placed Chelsea.
The Daily Mail claim Arsenal bosses do not want uncertainty over his future to derail their season any further just like last year.
Months of speculation over the French boss leaving finally ended with Wenger signing a new deal with the Gunners.
Wenger will enter the final 12 months of his current contract once again in the summer and he is intent on seeing out the deal.
However, Arsenal’s hierarchy are concerned another season of struggles could push the club further away from challenging their rivals for the title, as well as being without Champions League football.
There are also fears another season outside of Europe’s elite could cost them commercial deals.
Arsenal are in the process of negotiating a new kit deal which will start in the 2019-20 campaign with their current £30m-per-season deal with Puma expiring.
Adidas and Nike are both keen to strike a deal but are showing reservations due to the uncertainty over whether the club will be back in the Champions League.
And the Daily Mail claim there is now three possible options for the 68-year-old; leave at the end of this season; confirm he will leave when his current deal expires in the summer of 2019, or sign another contract extension.
Gunners chiefs are already putting together a list of names of those who could replace him at the end of this campaign though.
