David Ospina remains under observation after CT scans came back clean for head trauma, according to the goalkeeper’s father.
The goalkeeper was rushed to hospital on Sunday after collapsing during Napoli’s Serie A game against Udinese.
Ospina, who is on loan from Arsenal, had earlier collided with Ignacio Pussetto in the fifth minute, but was cleared to continue by the Napoli medics.
But shortly before half-time, Ospina needed treatment and the decision was taken to transport the 30-year-old to the hospital.
Napoli confirmed after the game CT scans had come back clean, but Ospina would remain in hospital for further observation.
Ospina’s father, Hernan Ospina, has now issued another update, saying the goalkeeper is still in hospital and probably miss the next two weeks of action.
‘I have not had the chance to speak to my son yet because he is in intensive care. I know he is fine because his wife is there,’ Ospina said on Colombian radio.
‘They talked to the doctors and he will be out of action for the next fortnight.’
Questions have been raised about why Ospina was allowed to continue playing after sustaining the head injury.
Napoli went two goals ahead in the first half hour, before Udinese fought back to level the game in the 36th minute.
Ospina was not substituted until the 44th minute when he fell to the ground.
Ospina’s parent club Arsenal are scheduled to play Napoli in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on 11 April.
