Liverpool are set to handed a massive transfer blow in their bid to sign OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Michel Seri as Arsenal’s new Director of football Raul Sanhelli is said to have good relations with him, according to the Daily Cannon.

Sanhelli is reported to have formed a close relationship with the midfielder when he was trying to sign him for Barcelona last year. The deal didn’t happen, much to the disappointment of the player.

This summer however, Seri will definitely be moving as Nice are ready to let him go along with Mario Balloteli and Alassane Plea.

The 26-year-old whose contract runs out next summer was the subject of a lot of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal transfer speculations last summer, and mentioned Liverpool along with Chelsea and Arsenal as one of the big clubs he’d like to join. “I want to sign for big European clubs, like Juventus, PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool.

He revealed he is still hopeful of a move to Barcelona. “Is the Barca move dead? I want to be optimistic and think that there are still options,”

Liverpool are in need of a strong commanding midfielder and Seri fits the bill, but any move will still depend on Klopp’s ability to sway the player’s mind away from Arsenal – maybe the lure of Champions League football?
