Man united have been handed a double injury boost after Micheal Carrick and Antonio Valencia returned to training following their injury layoffs.

Carrick who has made just a single appearance this season has been out of the team since being diagnosed with an irregular heart rhythm following a league cup match against Burton Albion where he complained of ‘feeling strange’ back in September.

He has undergone a heart procedure which corrected it and he has now been given the go ahead to return to training, in order to regain his fitness.

Antonio Valencia limped off the pitch with a pulled hamstring in a win over West Brom in December and has been sidelined ever since.

They both joined up with the rest of the team in a warm weather training camp in Dubai and are reported to be in good shape. Mourinho confirmed last week that Valencia would be back this week, so he will likely return in the game against Stoke on Monday.

Valencia’s return will come as a boost to Mourinho who has had to use Ashley Young at right back, while Carrick will likely take sometime before he is fully back in the team.
