Naby Keita might have already been strutting out at Anfield by now had Liverpool agreed to Leipzig’s request to swap right back Trent Alexander-Arnold for an early arrival of the midfielder in January.
Liverpool had already struck a deal to sign the central midfielder last summer, with the player expected to complete the move at the end of the season, but following Phillippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona the Merseyside club became keen to move the deal forward to January, and asked Leipzig to sanction the deal.
Leipzig were open to the arrangement since they had dropped out of the Champions League but The Times reports that they wanted something in return, and asked Liverpool for Alexander-Arnold.
