The Express claims Arsenal new boss Unai Emery is reportedly blocking Calum Chambers from completing a move away from the Emirate Stadium this summer.
The England international has been tipped to head to Fulham in the coming weeks, with the newly-promoted side keen to bolster their defensive ranks.
According to the Times, the 23-year-old is available for around £22 million this summer, and whilst that seems to be fairly extortionate at first glance, it actually represents decent value in today’s day and age.
The centre-back is one of a generation associated with the club facing the alien concept of another manager occupying the Gunners dug-out, having been just 20 months old when Arsene Wenger took charge in 1996.
Emery has been vocal on Arsenal’s transfer plans, with the 46-year-old revealing he hopes to develop the current squad.
“I believe we can grow with the players we have,” he said.
“The objective is to work hard together and with these talented players.
“It’s very important for the club, after two years outside the Champions League, to work to be the best team in the Premier League and also in the world.”
