Arsenal are understood to be interested in signing Ipswich Town midfielder Tristan Nydam.

The youngster who continues to display maturity well beyond his age has repeatedly turned in assured performances in the middle of the park and thus attracting a lot of interest.

Despite being just 17, the wonderkid has already skipped several levels of youth football to break into Mick McCarthy’s senior squad which shows the unbelievable amount of talent he possesses.

Since making his senior debut for the Tractor Boys in August in the Carabao Cup win over Luton, the wonderkid has not looked back and has since gone on to make 11 further appearances thus far this term which is understood to have attracted the Gunners.

According to the Sun via Daily Star, Arsenal are ready to make a move for Nydam when the transfer window reopens in January.

The report further states that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly willing to spend £2m on Nydam and is likely to immediately loan him back out for regular game time.

The England Under-19 international’s club boss McCarthy is one amongst many who expects very big things from Nydam, as well as fellow Ipswich prospect Flynn Downes, 18.

Speaking in August, McCarthy said: “They are as good as any young players that I have worked with

“I worked with Mark Kennedy and Ben Thatcher at Millwall and those two went on to be top players at top clubs.

“Flynn and Tristan are as good as they were and that’s praise indeed because they were both really good players”.

Despite Nydam currently being one of the biggest talents in his age group, should he make a move to North London, the step up in quality may just prove to be much for him.

He will be expected to bide his time in the youth ranks at the Emirates before making his mark on the first team after acquiring some much needed experience.
