Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Olivier Giroud and have opened talks with Arsenal over the possibility of signing the target man, according to the Daily Mail.

Olivier Giroud is keen to leave Arsenal in search of first team football ahead of the World Cup, he was a target for Dortmund and Everton last summer, but opted to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place.

Arsenal are already in talks with Dortmund for their Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Mirror claiming that the Bundesliga outfit are asking for Olivier Giroud in a part exchange deal.

However the Daily Mail claim that both clubs are keen to keep the deals for both players separate, even as an Arsenal delegate is in Germany sorting out a deal for Aubameyang.

Olivier Giroud who turns 31 this year has seen his role at the club reduced since his countryman Alexandre Lacazette arrived last summer from Lyon. He has been reduced to cup games and impact sub roles, with just one Premier League start to his name.

Giroud joined Arsenal in 2012 from Montpellier as a replacement for Robin Van Persie, and has scored 105 goals during his time at the club.

Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, with Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis and Sven Mislintat spotted in Germany. The next few days will determine the situation of the big striker.

  1. Yes Giroud must go. He has not played for months.

Arsenal should release him, so that he can play elsewhere and get fit for the World Cup. Will be unfair to keep him and not let him play. He is part of France team and could loose his place due to fitness. Will be his last WC. If they don’t sell him, he must go on loan.
