Unai Emery is ready to put as many as seven players up for sale as Arsenal prepare for a summer clear-out, reports say.

Emery, who replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates last summer, wants to bolster his squad at the end of the season but has a budget of only £45million.

The Spaniard has been told, however, that he will be able to reinvest a significant proportion of any money raised from player sales.

According to the Daily Mail, Emery is ready to put a number of first-team players up for sale, with the former PSG boss concerned about the quality of his current squad.

It is claimed Shkodran Mustafi, who has been the subject of much criticism following Arsenal’s dreadful defeat to Crystal Palace, will be moved on if possible.

The German defender has failed to impress the Arsenal board following his £35million move from Valencia in 2016 and is enduring another difficult season.

High-earners Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also reportedly be placed in the shop window, with the Gunners keen to reduce their wage bill.

Arsenal will listen to offers for out-of-favour Mohamed Elneny and Carl Jenkinson – while Calum Chambers and David Ospina will likely be sold.

Chambers has spent the season in west London at relegated Fulham, while Ospina is at Italian side Napoli.

Arsenal have already cut the squad’s wage bill ahead of next season by offloading Aaron Ramsey, who is set to sign a lucrative contract with Juventus.

Premier League legend Petr Cech will also retire at the end of the current campaign, while Danny Welbeck is expected to leave when his contract expires.
