Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United target Nicolas Pepe is nearing a move away from Lille, that’s the claim of the club’s president Gerard Lopez, per reports.
Pepe has been heavily linked with a move away from Lille since the summer, with a move to the Premier league mooted for him.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the star but reports claim Arsenal and Manchester United also signaled their interest in him, reports the Mirrror
While there is no telling where the 24-year-old will end up next season, Lopez has confirmed the imminent departure of the Ivorian.
“Our work is done,” Lopez told French outlet La Viox du Nord – translated Get French Football News.
“In terms of departures and arrivals, if a player leaves, we will go and get what we need.
“For Nico, it is almost done and he could have left last summer.
“It is true that there are big offers and big clubs in for him, so I think (he will leave). Aside from that, you never know in football.”
He had a barnstorming campaign in the Ligue One last season, where he scored 22 goals, and the club jacked his valuation to £70million.
Arsenal are looking to sign a player in the stead of Danny Welbeck, and they have been linked with a move for Pepe as well as Wilfried Zaha.
With Romelu Lukaku on the verge of joining Inter Milan, United will be forced into the market for an attacker.
It is quite interesting to see a chunk of the “big” Premier league teams linked with a move for Pepe but he may just end up joining a non-Premier league club.
