Reports making the round claims Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to Talksport.
The contract is said to be worth around £3.1m (€3.5m) per season which is around (£60,000-a-week) but the move is reportedly on hold until Maurizio Sarri is confirmed as Antonio Conte’s replacement.
The former Napoli boss is eager to overhaul Chelsea’s defence with Rugani joining Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Roma’s Kostas Manolas on his list of targets.
Reports in Italy have suggested Rugani’s agent met Juventus chiefs this week in order to discuss the 23-year-old’s future.
The Blues believe they could tempt the Serie A champions into selling and they have drawn up a provisional contract for Rugani too which would run until June 2023.
Chelsea could move on David Luiz as they freshen up their defence, with Arsenal sniffing around the Brazilian.
Juventus and Manchester United have also shown interest in signing him but it see Chelsea are leading the race for his signature.
