Russian youngster Igor Diveev has admitted that he’s flattered by Arsenal’s interest this summer with the Gunners having written to his current club FC Ufa and expressed their interest in the young star, according to the Mirror.
Diveev impressed as Russia’s Under-20 side reached the final of the COTIF-2018 tournament earlier this month and the youngster’s performances have caught the attention of Arsenal.
The 18-year-old defender currently plays for Russian outfit Ufa and the club’s president, Shamil Gazizov, has confirmed that the Gunners are circling.
‘I read about all this on the internet before the match with Dinamo,’ he said after Ufa’s 3-0 defeat on Monday night.
‘Of course, the attention of such a club is pleasant, but I do not know anything concrete yet.’
Unai Emery had a very busy transfer window having signed five players this summer the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner, Matteo Guendouzi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira this summer following the arrival of Unai Emery.
Emery claimed he was happy with the number of chances his side were creating following their 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
‘We want to win. This is always the way but it is clear that defensively we suffered three goals but also we had chances to do more goals,’ the Spaniard said.
‘I think the result is 3-2 but we also think we did chances to do more score.
‘In the first-half we are creating chances to score, and for that I am happy, I am in the match thinking we are well on the pitch but also they had options, chances to score and that is the difference.’
