We earlier reported Arsenal were closing in on a deal for Barcelona starlet Joel Lopez last month.
Now the Mirror can now confirm the deal has been sealed with the youngster also confirming his move and having said his goodbye to his former club and teammates.
He said on Instagram: “The day has come to say goodbye to what has been my home these last 7 years.
“Thanks to Barcelona, it will be the club that I always carry in my heart for wonderful moments that I have lived with my friends, coaches, delegates, and executives.
“Magnificent people who have made me feel welcome from the first day.
“It was a difficult decision but after contemplating it with my family I made the decision to go and start a new stage as a footballer with great enthusiasm.
“Thanks to all who have been there always Visca Barca!”
A left-back who was previously playing for Barcelona’s Juvenil B side, Lopez turned down the chance to stay at La Masia and has instead elected to move to Arsenal, where he has signed a scholarship contract.
He is the latest player to move from the Nou Camp to Arsenal as a teenager, following the departures of Cesc Fabregas, Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal have also signed Sunderland’s Sam Greenwood he will join Lopez as part of the academy led by former Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker.
