Manchester United are just a few hours away from sealing their third deal of the summer, which will happen after they sign AS monaco Hannibal Mejbri within the next 24 hours.
According to reports, United have agreed on a deal worth €10 million – a fee quite high for a 16-year-old player –for the youngster after eight long months .
The young midfielder, in recent timed have been excluded from Monaco’s youth set-up after a contract dispute ensued between the club and the teenager. The disagreement is reportedly as a result of Mejbri’s desire to move to Old Trafford.
Mejbri has drawn a lot of interest from clubs across Europe. The 16-year-old has been on Arsenal’s Radar since last summer but the Red Devils have emerged favorite to land the player who joined Monaco for £1 million when he was just aged 14.
United had hoped to sign Mejbri for a compensation fee but the Red Devils is poised to pen a £9.1m (€10m) deal the youngster. According to L’Equipe as cited by the Metro United had to outrace Arsenal to Mejbri’s signature.
The Gunners were ready to go head to head with United to secure the midfielder’s service, but the dea was almost completed.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had previously signed two young stars Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Potential third signing Mejbri and his agents are expected to arrive Theatre of Dreams today to put a final seal on the deal. Mejbri, expectedly, would move straight to United’s U18s squad as he awaits his senior debut.
