Arsenal are set to sign Barcelona youngster Joel Lopez as he snubs a contract from the Spanish side in favor of a move to Arsenal, according to the Daily Star.

The Gunners have seen off competition from their rivals Liverpool to acquire the services of the pacey left back who recently turned 15.

Lopez arrived at Barcelona at the age of seven on a school boy’s contract, he is regarded as a pacey left back, almost a left footed Hector Bellerin, and judging from how his compatriot broke into the first team at the club, it is safe to say he will be a good signing.

He will be eligible to sign professional terms with the club when he turns 16 next March, but should be drafted into the U-18s as soon as he signs.

Arsenal will only have to pay a nominal fee to Barcelona for training compensation.

The Gunners are also interested in his teammate Gerard Navarro and will be looking to also add the 16-year-old attacking midfielder to their ranks.
