Italian international Giorgio Chiellini will not be a Chelsea player as he prepares to snub the English side and sign a new deal with Juventus, according to the Metro.
The defender has been a target for Blues manager Antonio Conte since he took over the reins at Stamford Bridge with the Daily Star claiming that the Blues will have to offer him a coaching role upon retirement to convince him to move.
However, TalkSport now believe that a new deal which will keep the 33 year old at Juventus till 2020 is already being agreed, with his agent putting final touches to the deal.
Antonio Conte worked with Chiellini during his time in charge of Juventus and looked to reunite with him at Stamford Bridge, but the Italian defender who has six months left on his current deal has rejected the Blues.
Conte had earlier suggested that he won’t be making a move for the defender “Giorgio is a good player but he’ll want to finish his career at Juventus,” Conte said.
“It’s right to finish his career in this way.”
But Metro claims Conte is frustrated at the size of his squad and sees Chiellini as a good replacement for David Luiz who is likely to leave this January.
Chelsea however retain a little chance of trying to convince him, as his contract won’t be finalized till middle January.
