CKSA Moscow goalkeeper Sergey Chepchugov claims Arsenal target Aleksandr Golovin is joining Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea are in talks with CSKA, and have been for several weeks, although an agreement is yet to be reached for the midfielder.

It was thought the introduction of Monaco and Arsenal into the transfer race had derailed Chelsea’s move for Golovin, but his team-mate clearly thinks the move is still on.

Chepchugov wrote on Instagram about how happy he was for Golovin, and that he always knew the Russia international would join a big club. And the stopper mentions Chelsea in the post, leading excited Blues fans to declare Golovin a Blue.

It may be Chepchugov was just referring to the rumours swirling around Golovin, as reports coming from France on Saturday claim Golovin will now join Monaco.

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a fee, but are stalling on finalising the deal, which seems to have given Monaco the chance to hijack the move.

Golovin is a wanted man this summer after a superb showing for Russia in the World Cup. The 22-year-old’s reputation soared during the tournament as he shone for his country during their run to the quarter-finals.

Chelsea were reportedly eager to sign Golovin even before the competition, but it is now unclear if the Blues will get the deal over the line.

New Blues coach Maurizio Sarri may not be keen on the player as the Italian looks to put his own stamp on his squad.

Sarri and his players are currently in Australia preparing for their first pre-season game against Perth Glory on Monday.
