Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu has signed his first professional contract, as he aims to be the next academy player to break into the club’s first team.
Since John Terry, Chelsea are yet to produce a youngster that would successfully graduate from the academy into the first team, despite having a pool of talented players in recent years.
The likes of Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are in the process of following Terry’s footsteps but Ampadu is one player who club fans have high hopes on.
The Welsh man moved to Stamford Bridge from Exeter City in the summer and is already part of Wales senior team.
After turning 17 last week, the youngster became eligible to sign his first professional contract and Chelsea haven’t wasted anytime in doing that, reports WAGNH.
The excitement didn’t end there, he followed up the contract with his first team debut when Chelsea faced Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
The teenager who came in as a substitute for Cesc Fabregas on Wednesday night has all the traits to become a world star in the future.
However, like we know, it’s always difficult to break into Chelsea’s first team. It remains to be seen if he’ll be an exception just like Terry was. I am sure he knows he should be ready to seize his opportunity when it comes.
