Manchester United have officially announced Mason Greenwood has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The attacker, who turned 17 on Monday, has developed into one of United’s most highly regarded academy products in recent years.
The teenager has scored 11 goals for Neil Ryan’s Under-18 side this season, having finished as their top goalscorer last term with 16 goals in 17 appearances.
Greenwood, who is good with both feet, found the net on his UEFA Youth League debut recently in the 2-1 success at Young Boys, and scored again in Tuesday’s European match against Valencia.
The teenager tweeted after United’s confirmation of his deal, writing: “Happy to sign my first professional contract with Man United.”
Former United player Clayton Blackmore has high hopes for Greenwood
“He’s great on the ball and very good with both feet. He’s the first person I’ve seen that takes penalties and free-kicks with his wrong foot. I’ve never come across anyone like that!
“He’s got a great chance.”
