Manchester United have completed the signing of Fred, the Brazilian international revealed he just signed for the “biggest club in the world” the deal was worth in the rejoin of £50m ($67m) on as reported on Thursday.

The Brazilian has signed a five-year deal which includes a club option for a further 12 months upon its expiry.

The 25-year-old who missed Brazil’s opening 1-1 draw with Switzerland at the World Cup because of an ankle injury gives United manager Jose Mourinho a powerful-looking midfield, with the Brazilian set to slot in alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese boss believes Fred will add the key ingredient of pace to United’s play and he could be our own David Silva.

Fred is expected to form part of a three-man midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League behind rivals City but a whopping 19 points behind their fierce rivals.

Despite their highest league finish since Alex Ferguson retired, Mourinho was heavily criticised for adopting cautious tactics in several big games as United were often made to look ponderous in comparison to stylish City’s commitment to attack.

The 25-year-old, who is United’s second signing of the summer transfer window after Diogo Dalot from Porto.
