Chelsea received a blow when Eden Hazard’s father hinted that his son is inviting a move from Real Madrid in the summer.

Chelsea has been trying to get Hazard to sign a new deal to prevent seeing him leave in the near future, but the latest report now means they have a tougher battle on their hands.

Eden Hazard has already rejected the latest contract offer from Chelsea, and his father Thierry Hazard now suggests his son rejected the deal as he is holding out to see what Real Madrid has to offer before making his decision.

Chelsea is already facing a Real Madrid threat after it was reported that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is holding out for a move to the Spanish side.

Speaking to Le Soir, Thierry Hazard said “What is can say about Eden is that he refused an extension of contract to be able, if necessary to follow the interest of Real, where he would see himself well, but as I speak to you there is no contact

At the moment I believe this is just a publicity stunt from Hazard’s camp to get the maximum they can from Chelsea. However Real Madrid who have previously been credited with interest in the Belgian might just take up the chance and put Chelsea in a messy situation.

Chelsea will do well to avoid that by finding a way to convince Hazard to sign a new deal as soon as they can, while also trying to convince Courtois to extend.
