Olivier Giroud could leave Arsenal when the January transfer window opens, according to the Daily Cannon.
The French striker was the subject of interest from Everton in the summer but he opted to stay at Arsenal.
However, he’s yet to start a league game this season and has been made to play second fiddle to Alexandre Lacazette who joined the club in the summer.
It’s understandable if Lacazette is the club’s first choice, having joined for a club record £52m in the summer but that could have a negative effect on Giroud’s future.
Few days ago, France boss Didier Deschamp sent a warning to Giroud that his place in the squad could be under threat if he isn’t playing regularly for his club and the manager backed his statement by picking Lacazette ahead of Giroud in thier qualifier against Bulgaria.
Although, Giroud started the subsequent game on Tuesday, he has now realized that his place in France starting xi isn’t guaranteed, which could just push him towards the exit door in the new year, especially with the world cup around the corner.
Everton could still renew their interest in the striker in January as Koeman’s men languish in 16th position on the log table.
However, one potential stumbling block would be Wenger’s reluctance to do business in the winter transfer window. It’s going to be difficult to convince the manager to sell mid-season, especially after he opened the door for the striker to leave in the summer but he chose to stay.
