There has been much speculation about the Blues adding some firepower to their squad next month, especially after Wednesday’s shock 2-1 defeat away to Wolves.

Chelsea are still in the Premier League title race and Maurizio Sarri will not target a new striker in January.

That’s according to former Tottenham and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has told Betfair

Both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have been used up front but neither is prolific and the west London side have had to rely on goals from midfield.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Chelsea needing a new striker in January, with Alvaro Morata missing chances and Olivier Giroud not scoring.

“But I don’t think they’ll go in to the market.

“These are two good players and, as I’ve said many times in the past, it’s not just up to the centre-forward to score the goals.”

The Blues face a huge Premier League game on Saturday evening, with leaders Manchester City making the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea finds themselves 10 points adrift of the champions and defeats in west London would surely knock them out of the title race.
