According to a report via the Sun, Manchester United are interested in making a move for you Stoke City defender Nathan Collins.
The 18-year-old looks set to link-up with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is looking to refresh his team with young talent after a disappointing end to the season.
Collins made only three Championship appearances for Stoke this season, but has been highly recommended by Darren Fletcher.
The former Manchester United star has been massively impressed by Collins during their time together at Stoke, who thinks he is already good enough for the United first team.
The defender captained Ireland in last summer’s UEFA U17 European Championships, where they suffered a heartbreaking quarter final loss to The Netherlands. He has since made the step up to U19 level.
The report claims that the Red Devils are now expected to wrap up a deal for the 6 ft 4.
It’s understood Fletcher will join United’s backroom staff in the coming weeks and Collins could be the first of many players recommended by the Scot.
Solskjaer is desperate to overhaul his squad at United after a dismal end to the season, but the Norwegian is only interested in signing players with the right ‘work ethic’ for the club.
‘We’ve tried to educate our players and our kids to be proper people. In my view, the best players have always been the best people,’ he told United’s official app last week.
‘You have to have that value system and a certain kind of attitude about you to make a Man United player.
‘You have got to have the qualities and our fans want to see exciting players. Of course we want to get up from our seats.
