Manchester City are set to face a huge challenge in their quest to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
The Citizens remain keen on the Chilean’s signature having come agonizingly close to signing the player on the final day of the just concluded summer window.
With the player understood to be keen on a move to the Etihad to be reunited with Pep Guardiola, whom he played under during their spell at Barcelona, City were expected to have a free shot at eventually getting their key target next year.
It is now however understood that City will have to see off interest from at least four clubs to finally land Sanchez.
The Sun Daily Cannon reports that Paris Saint-Germain are planning a huge wage offer for Alexis, to add him to their already impressive forward line consisting in Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
Then the Daily Star via Daily Cannon further reports that Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United are all likely to enter the running in January.
As much as City would be devastated by the development of numerous interests in Sanchez, the increased competition is definitely good for the Gunners as it enables Wenger recover some of Alexis’ value in January.
A bidding war between three or four massive clubs is better than City setting their price and saying ‘take it or leave it’, knowing they would still be guaranteed the Chilean’s services for free in the summer.
For our own part, it is also understood Wenger has accepted that the Chilean would leave next summer and will no longer offer Alexis fresh terms regarding an extension.
