Gary Lineker has taken to social media after Arsenal’s players were spotted making a kind-hearted gesture to a mascot before the Europa League tie against Olympiacos.
With the first leg of the last-32 match minutes from kicking off on Thursday evening, the Gunners made one young fan’s day.
As the teams went for their traditional pre-match handshakes, the mascots left the pitch. Or they were supposed to, at least.
One young fan stayed on the field, seemingly unaware of what where he was supposed to go.
But the Arsenal team leapt into action, encouraging the youngster to join them for their official team photo ahead of the game.
The youngster’s arrival left big smiles on the faces of Joe Willock, Gabriel Martinelli and Matteo Guendouzi, before the mascot eventually made his way off the pitch and the game could finally get underway.
The gesture prompted Match of the Day presenter Lineker to post on Twitter the next day.
