Arsenal have joined Chelsea and West Ham in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners have identified the 19-year-old powerful centre-back as a summer target according to reports from Germany.
He is said to have been watched by Arsenal scouts in what has been an impressive campaign for him in the Bundesliga.
However, they are not alone as their London rivals West Ham and Chelsea are also interested in the 6ft 4 tall Frenchman.
Konate moved to Germany in the summer of 2017 from French side Sochaux and has established himself in the first team, emerging as a crucial figure at the heart of the defence that has conceded just 18 goals this season.
The Gunners perennial defensive issues seems to have gotten to it’s worst this season with the backline being exposed time and time again through injuries and outright loss of form, a situation which has led to loss of vital points.
The squad is in dire need of reinforcement for their injury ridden defence, and Emery is looking to the summer to make additions when he will have funds to spend, and the youngster could be the right target.
However, they will have a lot to worry about in the interest from their rivals as they risk losing their target, especially if he continues to produce top class performances till the end of the season.
