Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
The Gunners have left their transfer business until the final few weeks of the window, but have now completed the signings of Nicolas Pepe, William Saliba and Dani Ceballos after months of speculation and rumours.
But there has been some speculation in the media that Arsenal are not stopping there and are seeking to complete one or two new signings in the coming weeks, with Italian defender Rugani high up on the shopping list.
The Gunners are seeking to get back inside the top four and Champions League football and Emery knows he needs to do some last minute business or he could find himself playing Europa League football for another season.
And with reports Shkodran Mustafi has been offered to a host of European clubs, with the World Cup winner falling massively out of favour at the Emirates, Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Shira says Emery has asked to sign 24-year-old Rugani on loan.
However, the reports goes on to stay that Juventus are seeking a permanent deal for the long-standing Chelsea target, and the Gunners will have to pay around £27.5m to secure a transfer deal.
“Arsenal have asked Daniele Rugani only on loan (for the future there is Saliba),” he said.
“But Juventus to sell him want €30M at least.”
Yes Emery and Arsenal have signed a couple of decent players this transfer window and yes they may make a slight difference to the side, but Emery needs to bring in a world class defender in the final few weeks of the window.
Ceballos, Pepe and Saliba are talents that need nurturing and Emery will have trouble in the chase for that Premier League top four unless he signs someone like Toby Alderweireld or a Virgil Van Dijk by August 8th.
Rugani is another youngster that has not quite fulfilled his potential and this may be his agent trying to get a nice big contract for his client, as all indications have suggested that Rugani does not want to leave the Italian Champions this window.
