Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to be offered a new contract by Arsenal.

The English international who is into his last year of his contract at the Emirates was expected to depart for a free at the end of the current campaign having fallen to the bottom of the pack amongst Wenger’s midfield options, albeit majority due his injury woes.

The midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements by the gaffer last season and spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, but unfortunately suffered a hairline fracture to his fibula towards the end of his loan spell.

The midfielder was then heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates in the just concluded window but eventually remained after any move failed to materialize.

However an interesting turn of events now sees the England international who is now back fit closing in on a new long term deal after impressing in his appearances for the Gunners in Cup competitions thus far.

It is understood that the player’s fitness levels are currently very impressive and with his ability never in doubt, that has been enough to convince Arsene Wenger he is worth a new contract.

According to the Mirror via Daily Cannon, Wilshere’s performances against Doncaster and BATE Borisov have convinced Wenger to offer him a new four-year contract.

Provided he is able to maintain those fitness levels, the player reportedly extending his contract will always be welcomed by Gooners as he is a class player when on the pitch.

Wilshere must however now make the most of his second chance to fulfill his undoubtedly enormous potential at the Emirates.

It is also a chance to repay Wenger’s faith in him since he moved him to the first team in 2009 despite being just seventeen at the time.
