Arsenal have made signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho in the winter transfer window a priority.
This is according to a report in popular sport tabloid Talk Sport, which claim Wenger is determined to bring the Brazilian to the Emirates in the new year.
Jorginho, 25, has been a key player for Napoli since he joined them for a £9.5m fee in 2014 and has been constantly linked with a move to Arsenal for quite sometime.
The Brazilian is unarguably one of Serie A’s most gifted deep-lying playmakers but he hasn’t received the sort of worldwide recognition his talents deserve.
However, Wenger who is a man known for spotting talented players is a huge admirer of the midfielder.
According to latest reports, Wenger will now try to sign him in the next transfer window.
The boss is said to be looking for Santi’s Cazorla successor and Jorginho who has similar style of play as the Spaniard is considered a perfect replacement.
However, there could be a problem, Jorginho’s contract with Napoli runs until 2020 and the Italian club will reportedly not consider any offer until next summer.
It is likely that we may have to wait until the end of the season to sign the Brazilian.
The January transfer window is always a difficult one and Wenger may just have to bide his time especially as Napoli chairman Aurelio de Laurentiis is a difficult person to negotiate with.
