Arsene Wenger has squashed reports claiming Ozil will leave the Emirates at the end of the season.
The Germany international has been linked with a move to Manchester United, with reports last week claiming he has already told close friends that he expects to move to Old Trafford in the summer.
Wenger has now rubbished these claims, saying the German is going nowhere.
Wenger says reports claiming Ozil is set to leave the Emirates are “wrong news’ and that the player is focused on helping Arsenal on the pitch.
“We live in an environment where we have to deal with wrong news,” the Frenchman said at his post-match press conference.
“The players and myself always only have one response, [which] is what is happening on the football pitch. “
“When you see Mesut focused like he was today, and enjoying his game like he was today, it is difficult to believe these kind of rumours.”
Reports were strong in the last week that Ozil has made up his mind to join Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Moving to discard this rumor, Ozil reacted on his instagram page posting ‘ignore the noises’ with a picture of him in training.
Although he is yet to sign a new deal, it does seem the German is yet to make a decision on his future.
