Arsenal are looking to sign Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini, according to reports.
The Belgian’s contract at Man Utd expires at the end of the season and he has rejected all attempts by his club to extend his contract.
According to a report in the Express, Utd offered Fellaini a two year contract in September but the midfielder wants to leave Old Trafford. He turned down the contract offer despite Mourinho keen on keeping him.
And Arsenal are reportedly one of the numerous Premier League clubs looking to sign the towering midfielder.
Man Utd aren’t prepared to sell Fellaini in January and are may lose him for nothing next summer, making him an attractive target to many clubs.
Inter Milan and Besiktas are also believed to be keen on the Belgian who was linked with a move to Turkey last summer.
Arsenal being one the clubs linked with Fellaini will come as a surprise to many Gooners. He doesn’t fit into our style of play and unless Wenger wants him as an ‘option B’, I don’t see any need why we should be moving for him.
Another reason why it is unlikely that Arsenal will be pursuing a move for Fellaini is that the Belgian would have clocked 30 by next summer, which doesn’t fit into our transfer policy of signing young players with good resale value.
Fellaini is rarely a starter at Manchester United and will be looking to join a club where he would be guaranteed regular playing time, he won’t get that at Arsenal.
