Real Madrid have placed a £51million price tag on James Rodriguez’s head, with Arsenal among the sides trying to sign him this summer.
The Colombian attacker has been on a two-year loan at Bayern Munich from the Santiago Bernabeu but had hopes of returning to the Spanish capital this summer.
However, Zinedine’s reappointment as Real Madrid manager will scupper the 27-year-old’s plans and he now faces a decision over his next move.
Bayern Munich have an option to sign him for a cut-price £36million when his loan deal comes to an end.
But should he decide to leave the Bundesliga, Madrid are set to significantly hike up his price in order to raise funds for their own summer spree, according to El Confidencial.
Madrid chiefs want £51million for the attacking midfielder but would be willing to accept offers closer to £43m.
Whether Arsenal’s budget could stretch for such a big outlay is unclear, but Rodriguez is viewed as a potential replacement for the outgoing Aaron Ramsey.
Bayern may well wrap up a deal for the Colombian, however, and have until June 15 to get the transfer over the line.
