Liverpool have made contacts with Leicester City for the signature of their wanted star man Riyad Mahrez according to reports on the Express.
The Reds are set for a busy transfer market this January after completing the signing of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton and recently agreeing a deal to sell Phillipe Coutinho to Barcelona.
They are now in need of a replacement for the Brazilian with Mahrez seen as a potential replacement for the attacking midfielder.
Thomas Lemar has been reported a number of times to be a target for the Reds in their quest to replace Coutinho, with some quarters even hinting at a possible bid reemerging.
But according to reports coming out of France, the Reds have made contact with Leicester over Mahrez, as they seek a cheaper alternative.
Mahrez has been tracked by Arsenal over the years, with several attempts by the Gunners knocked back, but Arsene Wenger’s side are set to become even more serious with contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil looking likely to leave the Emirates.
While Chelsea are reported by The Daily Star to be interested in Mahrez as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his side this January.
Man United is also interested in the left footed playmaker, and a battle for the player is set to begin very soon
