Arsenal’s out of favour defender Mathieu Debuchy feels the time is right to part ways with the club.
The Frenchman has been almost an outcast at the club until this season after losing his starting line-up position to injuries and the emergence of Hector Bellerin.
This season however, things have finally started to look good for him, with start roles in all the Europa league and League cup games this season, further highlighted by his involvement in the 1-0 win in the League cup quarter final win against West Ham.
According to Daily Cannon, he told reporters that he wants to leave Arsenal “I want to leave in January. I want another challenge” he said.
He is yet to make a single Premier League appearance, making the bench only once in November, but this season though is still an improvement on last season where he played only 16 minutes the entire season and was completely frozen out of the squad.
His lack of games coupled with his relatively high salary cost him moves to Nice and Brighton even for free during the summer, and will most likely see this as an opportunity to avoid a recurrence of that situation, by using his impressive performance as a tool to jump ship.
He has a contract till 2019, but if a buyer should come in January for the 32-year-old, Wenger should let him go, so he enjoys the rest of his playing career somewhere else, he has earned the rights to enjoy it with his contribution this season.
