Maurizio Sarri has lost a portion of the Chelsea dressing room, who feel the Italian’s ‘overburdening’ the squad with excessive tactical information.
The Blues lost their fifth game in ten matches after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday.
Chelsea’s home support targeted Sarri with a number of chants, including an airing of ‘F**k Sarriball’ during a poor second half performance.
The Italian made a bright start to life at Stamford Bridge and the club were unbeaten in the Premier League until late November.
Many of the players enjoyed Sarri’s style during the early days of his appointment but, according to the Independent, they now feel ‘overloaded’ with information going into matches.
The level of information is said to be so excessive that it’s putting many players off their natural game and is so far removed from the counter-attacking style that had brought them success under Antonio Conte.
Sarri is said to be perfectly likeable but defeat in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final could cost him his job less than a year into life in west London.
But it’s not just members of his squad that have turned on Sarri, a majority of fans now seem opposed to him too.
His substitutions during the defeat to United seemed to particularly frustrate supporters, who could not understand why Olivier Giroud and Callum Hudson-Odoi were left on the bench throughout such a poor performance.
