A sports host has revealed that Arsenal will sign former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer, according to the Daily Star.

Mata who scored a magnificent freekick against Juventus in the Champions league win over Juventus has been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent times.

The 30-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season and doesn’t seem to be keen to sign a new deal with the club due to lack of game time over the years.

TV host Adrian Durham has now revealed live on air that his sources have informed him that the Spaniard will reunite with his former boss Unai Emery who worked with him during his time at Valencia.

“I thought we were going to do a Juan Mata love-in right.” He said.

“I thought we were doing an appreciation hour for Juan Mata. After I said this, just a couple of minutes ago, just had a message going: ‘He’s going to Arsenal on a free’.

“We can’t do this anymore, if he’s going to Arsenal. We all love him now, but who is going to love him when he goes to Arsenal?

“He’s going to be going to Arsenal on a free! He was with [Unai] Emery on a free wasn’t he, so he’s going to Arsenal on a free because he is out of contract in the summer.”

He added: “This is breaking news, Juan Mata is going to Arsenal.

“This is what I have heard, it is not official. My sources close to the club have said he is going to Arsenal on a free.

“By the way, when it happens, you can all ring up and say ‘We doubted you but, as ever, you were right.

Mata recently revealed his admiration for Emery in a biography, and with Aaron Ramsey leaving Arsenal soon, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine a move to the Emirates for him.
