It seems Arsenal have dodged a bullet when they agreed to a swap deal which saw Chilean international, Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in January.
Sanchez currently earns around £500k-week at Old Trafford and have failed to replicate his Arsenal performance at Manchester United.
Now the Daily Mail claims Jose Mourinho is plotting to axe Sanchez permanently from his squad, despite the head coach denying his team were light in attacking options without him.
‘For how many months people are asking for Martial, Martial, Martial,’ Mourinho said before the game against West Ham.
‘For how many months people are saying that Alexis Sanchez is not playing well enough, ‘So this week was time to agree, and to say ‘let’s give a chance to Martial and let’s leave Alexis out’.’
The Chilean international joined Manchester United in January in a swap deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to Arsenal.
Sanchez is under contract until 2022 at United and was linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester City before settling on a switch to Old Trafford.
United have only 10 points on the board through their opening seven Premier League fixtures this season, having lost as many matches as they have won.
They currently lie 10th in the Premier League log and face a midweek clash against Valencia in the Champions League as they seek to rebuild their confidence.
