Every man and their dog (except maybe Atom and Humber, because they’re probably on a secluded ranch near Lake Como somewhere) knows about the Granit Xhaka situation.

We won’t repeat what happened because you have to relive it on a daily basis, but let’s just say things aren’t going well for the Switzerland international at Arsenal these days.

He will probably never play for the club again, which means he’s likely to leave in January for pastures anew.

That’s what Marcello Pelizzari, a journalist for Il Corriere del Ticino in Switzerland, said in a chat with Il Milanista, claiming that unless there was a ‘sensational U-turn’, the former captain would ‘100%’ leave Arsenal in the next transfer window.

The big question is where: “At this moment, Xhaka has various options on the table. There’s been talk of Newcastle, which would be a welcome solution, because he can remain in the Premier League. There are whispers he has an offer from Borussia Dortmund, where he would reunite with Lucien Favre, who launched him at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“When being called up to the national team, we know he loves Italy and Milan in particular. From what we know, from sources close to his entourage, Milan would be the team that is ahead in the negotiations to take him away from London in January, also because Ivan Gazidis knows him since his days at Arsenal”.

Pelizzari added Inter have made an enquiry, but made it clear to the fan website that their team were the hottest on Xhaka’s trail.

As for the rest of the interview, it’s all about how moving to Italy could be great for him, especially Milan, although the player does apparently have worries about making a step back in his career by moving to a club in difficulty on the pitch.

Either way, those are Xhaka’s options, and it seems his time at the Emirates is quite obviously coming to a close.
