Arsene Wenger is reportedly monitoring the situation of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata whose current contract expires in the summer, according to The Sun.
Juan Mata’s contract expires in the summer, but Manchester United have an option to extend his deal by an extra year.
The midfielder has been used in a bit part role this season and he would want assurance of regular first team football if he is to agree to a new deal.
However, there are reports that manager Jose Mourinho will ask the club to make a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil who he managed at Real Madrid during his time in Spain, and the arrival of Ozil would further reduce playing time for Juan Mata who Mourinho sold to Man United during his second spell at Chelsea.
The Mirror reports that Inter are monitoring the situation carefully and could be ready to make a move if he does decide to leave.
Barring an extension by United, Mata is free to sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs which will see him join them for free at the end of his contract.
Mata seems to be past his best, and a move to a side where he will get regular opportunities is the best for him in my opinion.
