Liverpool target Timo Werner has told RB Leipzig that he will NOT sign a new contract this season.
Werner’s current deal with the club expires at the end of next season, which means that the German club could be tempted to sell him in the summer to avoid losing him on a free next year.
That’s according to Leipzig’s chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff.
“It’s well known that we want to extend with him,” he said at half-time of Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.
“But he’s signalled to us that he does not want to sign a new contract.
“We need to see what’s right for us and for Timo.”
The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have all been put on alert by this claim, as they eye a move for the striker.
Werner has impressed yet again in the Bundesliga this season for Leipzig, with 14 goals and five assists so far for the German giants.
The 23-year-old has scored 61 goals in 109 games for Leipzig since joining the club in 2016.
