Arsenal will play host to Watford on Saturday a game which could see Unai Emery take his unbeaten run to 7 straight wins after losing to both Manchester City and Chelsea in his first two games in charge of the team this season.
Emery will start Aaron Ramsey against Watford after insisting he won’t be distracted by his contract snub.
The midfielder was stunned when Gunners chiefs this week withdrew their offer after months of talks.
This means the Welsh international, 27, is almost certain to leave the Emirates next summer after 11 years.
However, Arsenal boss Emery will continue to place his faith in the Gunners’ longest-serving player.
He said: “I don’t think all the speculation will affect his performances and I want him to give all his quality.
“A footballer’s career is very short, usually for ten, 12 or 15 years. Every player needs to work very hard during these years for his future and the future of his family.
“They need to take the opportunity to show their best qualities in every match.”
