Arsenal will face competition from Liverpool in their bid to try and sign Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

According to Calciomercato, the Reds have expressed an interest in the player, with Jurgen Klopp getting an up-close and personal look at him during Wednesday night’s 4-3 Champions League win.

Manchester United have previously been linked with the player, but it now looks like they will face competition from the Reds, as well as Juventus and Inter Milan – but what does this mean for Arsenal?

It was always likely that the Gunners were going to face competition from several clubs around Europe for Szoboszlai.

The youngster is one of the most highly-rated prospects in European football right now and he is showcasing his potential as part of a very exciting Salzburg team in the Champions League.

Liverpool will know exactly what he is about after his performance at Anfield on Wednesday night.

With teams from Italy joining the race to sign him, Arsenal will be hoping that the lure of the Premier League is too much for the player.

Jurgen Klopp’s side may feel like they have an advantage with Naby Keita in their side. He joined RB Leipzig from Salzburg and could be someone that Szoboszlai looks to for inspiration when deciding his next move.

It’ll be a tough deal to get over the line, but Szoboszlai is clearly a player that the Gunners admire, so they would be making a mistake by not pursuing a move for the 18-year-old.
