Liverpool could have scored in 19. minute, but assistant referee signalized for offside, which was very bad decision. Nevertheless, the Reds scored first in 24. minute, when Raheem Sterling capitalized on perfect touch of Luis Suarez.
City’s captain Kompany equalized nine minutes later, with an excellent header following a corner. City won with a Negredo’s strike in the stoppage time of the first half. Spaniard fired a volley towards Mignolet, and Liverpool goalie could have intervene better.
City’s victory allowed Arsenal to get back to the first place after just one round. The Gunners beat West Ham on the road with 1:3, but it wasn’t easy victory. Carlton Cole gave home side advantage. Theo Walcott then step into the scene, and with two fast goals turned the game around. Podolski, who played first game for Arsenal since round 2, sealed with his nice strike into the low left corner of the West Ham goal.
