The Daily Star who cite report in Turkey claims Liverpool have made an approach in signing Croatia’s defender Domagoj Vida this summer.

The report further says the Reds are ready to offer £17.5 million in securing his services of the Besiktas stopper.

Liverpool have already reportedly had a £15.9million bid knocked back but have returned with an increased offer.

But Besiktas will apparently hold out for closer to £30million having only signed Vida from Dynamo Kiev in January.

However, the Turkish side are seemingly willing to move Vida on – should they receive a suitable offer.

Meanwhile, bookies have named Liverpool favourite to snare the Croatia international.

Director of Trading Ian Marmion told Starsport: “Croatia’s defensive dynamo Domagoj Vida has attracted Premier League interest following his standout performances at the World Cup in Russia.

“Liverpool are the current 3/1 favorites to sign the 29-year-old as the man to provide competition for his Croatian compatriot Dejan Lovren in central defence next season.

“Chelsea are second in the running at 5/1 to become the Besiktas defender’s chosen destination this summer, while local rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are both long-shots at 9/1 and 12/1 respectively to complete a move for the World Cup finalist during the transfer window.”

Vida joined Besiktas just last January from Dynamo Kiev but the Turkish club would supposedly be willing to take advantage of Vida’s World Cup success and sell to the highest bidder.
