Ruben Loftus-Cheek says he is unsure about his Chelsea future as he’s had no assurances from Antonio Conte.
Loftus-Cheek was allowed to join Crystal Palace in the summer on a season long loan as Chelsea aim to get him playing regularly.
The English man is highly rated by many Chelsea fans and he is one of the few academy graduates expected to force his way into Chelsea’s first team.
Having made the switch to Selhurst Park, Loftus-Cheek believes he is following the right path to a successful career. However he wasn’t so sure about his future at Stamford Bridge as he hasn’t be told if he would be in Conte’s plans next season.
When asked if he had received assurances from Conte, Loftus-Cheek said, as quoted by the Metro:
‘Not at all.
‘But I don’t think it’s right to because you never know how I’ll preform this season. So, right now I’m just literally focused on Palace.
‘He (Conte) said I need to play games. Chelsea is a big club and there’s a lot of pressure which I understand.
‘For me, I think it was the right time for me to go away from Chelsea right now and get my game time elsewhere.
‘I’m really just enjoying playing, that’s the main thing for me at the moment.
‘I just want to play as many games as possible and improve.’
Chelsea have allowed a host of talented young players leave the club in recent seasons, so one can’t really blame Loftus-Cheek for being uncertain about his future at the club.
Chelsea fans will definitely not want to see the midfielder leave the club permanently and would be gutted if it does happen.
