Arsenal are set to turn their attention to Paris Saint Germain outcast Lucas Moura as the Daily Star reports they could abandon their pursuit of Aubameyang for a cheaper option.
The Gunners are deep in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund for Aubameyang, but seem not to be close to reaching an agreement after two rejected bids, as the German side maintain their stance on his asking price.
Wenger said a deal isn’t close to being completed when asked earlier, and reports now claim he could give up on getting the Gabonese international and go for Lucas Moura instead.
Speaking on transfers, Wenger said: “I cannot tell you more. We have nothing to announce.
“At the moment, we stay where we are. We keep our players.
“We have added Mkhitaryan and lost Sanchez.
“Will anything else happen? At the moment, I don’t know.
“It is far from close.
“It is possible we will recruit someone else but I won’t give you a name.”
The Brazilian winger was left out of PSG previous match day squad amid interests from Tottenham and would cost about half the asking price Dortmund is demanding for Aubameyang. Arsenal have just over 48 hours to round off their January transfers before the window shuts.
