Arsenal are interested in signing young Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to reports.
Arrizabalaga’s contract expires at the end of this season and Arsenal are one of the clubs hoping to sign him on a free transfer.
Real Madrid and Napoli are other clubs believed to be interested in the goalkeeper who is just 22 years old.
According to Merca Futbol via the Daily Cannon, Kepa is a good option for club’s looking for a young goalkeeper with potential.
And with Arsenal’s Petr Cech already in the final stages of his career, the Gunners are said to be interested in Arrizabalaga.
Cech at 35 has David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez as those looking to take over from him but none of them have been able to convince they can be the future of the club.
Arsenal may actually be in the market for a new goalie. We were linked with Jordan Pickford in the summer before he joined Everton, so it won’t be entirely surprising if we are seriously interested in Arrizabalaga.
The Spanish U21 goalkeeper is highly rated in La Liga and is currently Bilbao’s first choice. He made 23 appearances for the Basque club last season.
Bilbao will be desperate to tie him down to a new contract but with clubs like Arsenal and Madrid circling around, the goalkeeper may just be tempted by the prospect of playing for any of Europe’s biggest clubs.
